Who or what inspired your career in GI? I always was intrigued by the gastrointestinal tract, the procedural aspect of the specialty , and the fact that I knew I could help a lot of people given that almost everyone has a gastrointestinal complaint from time to time. When growing up my grandfather was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer. This, along with the reasons I mentioned above, led me to GI
What do you like most about being a doctor or GI? Its fun, exciting, and a field that always keeps me intrigued. I love what I do. I know I'm making a difference in someone's life when I remove or detect polyps. Colonoscopy really is life saving for some and I know how important the procedures we do are. It is gratifying to know I really am helping someone whether they realize it or not.
What is the best professional advice you have received? Work hard to get what you want, nothing in this life is free.
Why are you a TSGE member? I'm a member because I wanted to be a part of a collective GI platform and organization where our interests are at the forefront and heart of decisions made at a state level. TSGE also provides amazing up to date, high yield yearly conferences. It’s a great opportunity for networking and to discuss matters that other GIs in the state face that may be relevant to my own practice.
Do you have a personal motto or favorite quote? The best sleeping pill is a clear conscience.
What is your favorite pastime? All my extra time I devote to my family and my 2 girls. We love taking family trips to the beach.
