Environmental Health and Health Disparities in Texas Survey
  
A Northeastern University PhD candidate – that lives in Texas and has been researching environmental health and health disparities in the state for about a decade – is asking for assistance from physicians. She is currently working on her dissertation on health care providers' training, education, and clinical practices regarding environmental health in Texas (funded by the Ford Foundation). This survey hopes to learn more about health care professionals’ knowledge of environmental determinants of health in Texas.
  
The survey can be taken on a smart phone, tablet, or computer and will take approximately ten minutes to complete.

Meet the Co-Chairs of TMAF’s 2021 Gala 

  
The TMA Foundation is pleased to announce David Fleeger, MD, and his wife, Jamie, and Belda Zamora, MD, and her husband, F. Javier Otero, MD, all of Austin, as co-chairs of its 28th annual gala, Superheroes: Meeting the Challenge.

Dr. Fleeger is a colon and rectal surgeon and is TMA’s immediate past president. Jamie Fleeger is a physician assistant in family medicine and board certified by the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She is also a longtime member of the TMA Alliance and Travis County Medical Alliance. 
Dr. Zamora is a family physician and serves on TMA’s Council on Medical Education and the Travis County Medical Society Executive Board. Dr. Otero serves as serves as Cardiac Catheterization Lab Medical Director at St. David’s Medical Center.  
“We are honored to serve as co-chairs for this year’s gala fundraiser,” Dr. and Mrs. Fleeger said in an email. “As the philanthropic arm of our TMA, the Foundation serves as the public face of the altruistic nature of our profession. By serving our patients and profession so well the TMA Foundation is indeed the ‘White Hat’ organization that should make every Texas physician proud.”

TMA Foundation’s 2021 gala will take place as a virtual event on Friday, May 14, from 7 to 8:15 pm during TMA’s annual meeting, TexMed, in Austin. The virtual event will be broadcast from the Thompson Auditorium in the TMA building. The event will feature a silent auction, special messages to the health care superheroes in Texas, and entertainment from local musicians. 
Sponsorships are available at various recognition levels ranging from $3,000 for a table of eight to $50,000 for the exclusive presenting sponsorship.
