Many
physicians and their staff are spending a significant amount of time dealing
with insurance companies trying to get claims processed and paid
correctly. If appeals have been
exhausted or if an insurance company is non-responsive there is a two
pronged-approach practices can take to help get the issue resolved: (1) the patient submits a complaint to the
Texas Department of Insurance; and (2) the physician’s office submits the claim
to the Texas Medical Association’s (TMA) Hassel Factor Log. This article gives a few details on each.
